It should be said that the main attraction of Telugu cinema is the hero. In the film industry, heroes are measured as the stars of the silver screen. Fans are very interested in watching the movies of their favorite protagonists.. first day first show. And.. the respective heroes also work hard to entertain their fans. And.. what kind of films did our Tollywood top stars give this year.. let’s see in this rewind 2023 which protagonists were successful.
Let’s talk about veterans first. Even after the age of sixty, our veteran stars are busy with a series of films to entertain the audience with youthful enthusiasm. Among the four pillars of Tollywood, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh did not greet the Telugu audience this year. The remaining Megastar and Natasimham have come forward with two films for the audience.
Balakrishna, who had a valiant run at the box office with ‘Veerasimha Reddy’ in January as a Sankranti gift, had a blockbuster hit with ‘Bhagwant Kesari’ in October as a Dussehra gift. These two movies which came out as Mass entertainers are completely different in terms of storylines. However..Natasimham gave a new visual treat to the audience with his own mass presence in both these movies. That’s why..Natasimham Balakrishna should be named as the hero of the year for Tollywood this year.
Even Megastar, who was waiting for a Blockbuster hit after ‘Khaidi No. 150’ in his re-entry, got that success this year. Megastar mesmerized in a mass role as ‘Waltair Veerayya’ in Sankranti. ‘Waltair Veeraya’ is a proof that even after the age of six and a half, Megastar still has that grace and style. Director Bobby has unveiled this movie with all the emotions. However, in the second half, the megastar disappointed the fans with ‘Bhola Shankar’.
After the veterans let’s talk about the star heroes of today. Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, NTR, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan are the first names that come to mind as the star heroes of today’s Tollywood. But if two of them are missing, the other four big heroes will not open their accounts in 2023. This year, Mahesh, NTR, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan have not released any films.
There are only two stars who appeared before the audience this year in Present Star Heroes. One is Power Star Pawan Kalyan. Another is rebel star Prabhas. ‘Bro’ is a multi-starrer in Pawan Kalyan and Saidharam’s combo. This film directed by Samudrakhani as a remake of Tamil film ‘Vinodaya Sittam’ has impressed the mega fans. In this movie, Power Star has got a good reputation for screen presence and dialogues.
Rebel Star Prabhas has released two films this year. One is ‘Adipurush’ and the other is ‘Salaar’. If ‘Adipurush’, which came with many expectations, is a big disappointment, then ‘Salaar’, which was released in the year ending, will become a sensational hit at the box office. Within six days of its release, it has raked in Rs.500 crores at the worldwide box office. As there are no big films till Sankranthi, there are indications that the tsunami of ‘Salaar’ collections will continue.
As for the rest of the stars, mass maharaja Ravi Teja released three films this year. Among them, ‘Waltheru Veeraiya’ is a multistarrer.. the other films are ‘Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao’. The mega movie ‘Waltair Veerayya’ was a great success. But.. ‘Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao’ failed to show much impact at the box office.
Natural star Nani shook the box office with the movie ‘Dussehra’ in March this year. Directed by debutant director Srikanth Odela, Nani in the role of Dharani has shown a new look in a rustic look. And.. the natural star has another hit in his account with ‘Hi Nanna’ which was released in December. Nani has released two films after Balakrishna.
Also.. Among the other heroes, Saidharam Tej, who was not got hit with the mega multistarrer ‘Bro’, shook the box office with ‘Virupaksha’. ‘Skandha’ was a big flop for energetic star Ram. Heroes like Gopichand, Varun Tej and Akhil failed to make any impact at the box office this year.
