Media Mughal Ramoji Rao passes away

Ramoji Rao (87), the chairman of Eenadu group companies, passed away today. On the 5th of this month he was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad due to difficulty in breathing. While undergoing treatment there, he breathed his last at 4:50 am on Saturday morning. His body is being shifted to his residence in Ramoji Film City.

The world’s largest film studio Ramoji Film City is owned by the Ramoji group founded by Ramoji Rao. In 2016, the Government of India honored Ramoji Rao with Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second highest award.

Ramoji Rao was born on November 16, 1936 in Pedaparupudi of Krishna district in a farmer’s family. Mother Venkatasubbamma, father Venkata Subbarao. Ramoji Rao’s ancestors belonged to Perisepalli village in Pamarru mandal. His grandfather Ramayya migrated from Perisepalli to Pedaparupudi with his family.

Ramoji Rao was interested in the field of advertising and hoped to learn about it with the encouragement of his acquaintance, Tahashila Ramachandra Rao, who worked in an advertising agency. After completing his studies, he joined an advertising agency in Delhi as an artist. He returned to Hyderabad in 1962 after working in that field for three years.

Ramoji Rao started Margadarshi Chit Fund in Hyderabad in October 1962. This is the first business in his life. After that in 1965 he started an advertisement agency called Kiran Ads. Between 1967 – 1969, he ran the fertilizer business in the name of Vasundhara Fertilizers in Khammam area. In 1969 Ramoji Rao started the first magazine Annadaatha with agricultural information. Ramoji Rao started Dolphin Hotels in Visakhapatnam in 1970.

Ramoji Rao has achieved unwavering success in the field of cinema as well. Ramoji Rao has produced many movies on Ushakiran Movies starting with ‘ Srivariki Premalekha’ in 1984 , ‘Mayuri, Mouna Poratam, Pratighatana, People’s Encounter, Ashwini,Chitram,Ishtam, Nuvve kaavali, Anandan , Ninnu Choodalani,Nachavule ‘ .
