The government of India launched the Rs. 100 coin today, through the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who launched the coin in New Delhi. What’s prestigious about the coin is that it features the legendary NTR on it. He is the first politician from South India to have received such a special honor.
President Droupadi Murmu said that NT Rama Rao has enriched Indian cinema and culture through Telugu films. All of NTR’s children were invited to the event, with several of them attending the event as well, including Balakrishna and Purandeshwari, who is a member of the BJP.
The coin also has a 1923-2023 engraving on it, signifying a hundred years of NTR, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year, had he been alive. Balakrishna grandly celebrated the centenary birthday celebrations of NTR earlier this year, for which Rajnikanth was a chief guest as well.
