‘Manjummel Boys’ released in Malayalam on February 22 this year is creating new records in Mollywood in terms of collections. ‘Manjummel Boys’ is the highest grossing film in the Malayalam industry that has been going on for decades. Recently this film has entered the Rs.200 crore club.
Director Chidambaram directed this film based on a true incident that took place in 2006. Shaubin Shahir, Srinath Bhasi and Balu Varghese played the lead roles in this movie. This is the story of boys from Manjummel, a town near Kochi. The film is based on the incident of ‘Manjummel Boys’ going to Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu for a vacation. The movie was shot in Kodaikanal at the same locations where Kamal Haasan’s movie ‘Guna’ was shot.And.. there are many ‘Guna’ references in this movie. That’s why.. ‘Manjummel Boys’ got a good response in Kerala as well as Tamil Nadu.
If ‘Manjummel Boys’ stands at number 1 among the films with the highest collections in Mollywood, then ‘2018, Pulimurugan, Lucifer, Premalu’ are in the next four positions. Among these, the box office run of ‘Premalu’ is also continuing.
