Suma, who hails from Kerala, is fluent in Telugu, though her mother tongue is Malayalam. Suma was born on March 22, 1975. Father PN Kutty, mother P. Vimala. They stayed in Secunderabad for many years. Being in Hyderabad, Suma naturally mastered the Telugu language. Suma says that her mother played a major role in her choosing Telugu as a subject in languages.
While Suma’s father was working in Hyderabad, she met Rajeev Kanakala while doing Meghamala directed by Devdas Kanakala. That acquaintance turned into love. They got married on February 10, 1999. They have a son and a daughter. It is known that Suma’s son Roshan made his debut as a hero with the movie Bubble Gum.
