The first quarter of 2023 opened on a very positive note with noted big budget films lighting up the ticket windows at the box office.
2023 started itself with a clash of superstar’s like Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi with their movies Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya. both the films fetched huge revenues at the box office and brought smiles over the faces of producers and fans.
Here comes the top list of films that made a mark at the box office during the first quarter of 2023.
Veera Simha Reddy: It is a mass action film with high on action scenes. Directed by Gopichand Malineni teh film was released on January 12th worldwide and the theatres were filled with housefull boards and registered a terrific openings on day one and weekend numbers and showed the God of Masses euphoria. The film was declared as a box office superhit by the trade circles.
Waltair Veerayya: The movie is a directorial venture of Bobby released on January 13th on the eve of Sankranthi and emerged as a box office blockbuster by continuing it’s success streak at the box office. Chiru was even declared as a winner in the Sankranthi clash this time and gave huge relief to Boss after a series of duds at the box office.
SIR: The social message oriented movie starring Dhanush and Samyuktha Menon in the lead roles was a surprising hit at the Tollywood box office hit. SIR is directed by young director Venky Atluri and the film emerged as the highest grosser of Dhanush in Telugu states. The film marks the first straight film of Dhanush into the Telugu Film Industry.
Balagam: Actor comedian turned director Venu Yeldandi made his debut with ‘Balagam’ – A small family drama film laced with human emotions. The movie was a sleeper hit at the box office that released on March 3rd 2023, and is now continuing the successful at the box office even after streaming on OTT platform. Balagam made on a budget of 2 crores collected more than 20 crores in the Nizam territory by inning the hearts of audience.
Dasara: Nani’s first Pan India attempt directed by Srikanth Odela was widely promoted across India. The film released with huge expectations collected massive numbers at the US box office. Nani had achieved record breaking opening figure’s surpassing Waltair Verayya and Veera Simha Reddy opening day number’s. The first weekend numbers is expected to take the film to next level giving much needed recognition to Nani worldwide.
