The teaser of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film, Animal, was released yesterday. Sandeep has only made one film in Telugu so far, Arjun Reddy, which turned out to be a massive hit, and which pretty much already established his position in the industry. He remade the same film in Hindi with the title Kabir Singh, which turned out to be the biggest grosser of the year in which it was released.
Animal features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, and Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady. The pre-teaser, which was released yesterday, was met with a lot of mixed responses. While some praised the pre-teaser, some have been criticising it, saying that it looks like a copy of the corridor scene from the Korean film Old Boy.
The style and picturisation of the pre-teaser does very much look like that of the scene from Old Boy, but these kinds of scenes are not new in Indian cinema either. Hence, it is probably too early to say whether the scene is an inspiration, a copy, or an original, until the movie is released.
