Are small films rising once again?

Before the pandemic, there was no such concept as a small film or big film, in terms of a film being able to pull crowds to the theatres because the theatre-going culture was very much still prevalent at that time. However, post the pandemic, things have changed drastically.

Now, audiences are going to the theatres only if a film is headlined by a top actor, or if a movie’s trailer turns out to be exceptional, and if a movie gets a good response post-release. In recent times, there are more instances of small films doing well in theatres, than big films.

One of the most recent examples is Samajavaragamana, and now, it looks like another film is about to join this race, in the form of Baby, the trailer of which was released yesterday. The trailer has been received exceptionally well by audiences, and it has to be seen whether this film will also work wonders at the box office.
