The Telugu film industry has never been short of leading ladies, as there have been several legendary actresses in the industry since its inception. Actresses like Kajal, Tamannaah, and Samantha, who entered the industry more than ten years ago are still going strong, and continue to get good offers. Anushka Shetty has managed to get the moniker of Lady Superstar even, with the kind of following she has amassed for herself, and the kind of roles she has been seen in.
Having said that, there hasn’t been a single actress that’s been able to make a good mark on the industry in recent years. Pooja Hegde and Rashmika Mandanna showed good promise, but they are facing back-to-back failures and controversies, respectively.
Krithi Shetty was another actress that was flooded with offers, but with the exception of Uppena and Shyam Singha Roy, she hasn’t been able to follow up on her success. That left Tollywood with Sree Leela, who is extremely busy, and booked till 2024.
With such a shortage, one wonders whether the actresses making their debut now lack talent or beauty because of which they are not able to make an impact.
