Kamal Haasan continues his support for PS-2

Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited sequel Poniyin Selvan 2 is all set to release grandly on 28 April 2023. The trailer was released with a grand audio launch event in Chennai, featuring a star-studded cast and Kamal Haasan with Silambarasan TR as the chief guest.

If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is all set to provide the voiceover for the introduction scene of Mani Ratnam’s dream project, Ponniyin Selvan-2. It is said that Kamal Haasan’s voice will set the mood for the film. He also lent his voice for the Tamil version of PS-1. Ponniyin Selvan marked the reunion of ace director Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after a long gap of 35 years.

The duo had earlier collaborated for the epic crime drama Nayakan, which went on to become one of the landmark films for both. Kamal Haasan went on to bag the National Award for his role as Velu Naicker and the film was considered as one of the 100 greatest films of all time.

Before launching the trailer, the legendary actor addressed the gathering while sharing his views about the sequel and revealed how he too wants to be a part of the film. However, he finished his voice. “Thank you to all the fans who made me come on stage over the years. Only Simbu will know him as he has been acting since childhood. I got a chance to act with my talent. I have also lost movies like Ponyyin Selvan. So I gave voice,” said Kamal Haasan.

The trailer of Ponniyin Selvan-2 was released and received a huge response from the audience. It will begin from the conclusion of the first movie, where viewers saw Ponniyin Selvan facing her death, as Aishwarya Rai’s Omai Rani jumps into the sea to save her.

The sequel will see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Shobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Prakash Raj and others reprising their roles respectively. Composer A.R. Rahman, editor Srikar Prasad and cinematographer Ravi Varman are part of the technical crew. PS-2 is set to release in theaters on April 28 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
