Samantha pinned a lot of her hopes on her latest theatrical outing, Shaakuntalam, a mythological love epic. The film had its theatrical release on the 14th of April. The film has now opened on a disastrous note at the box office with an agonisingly low box office totally.
The film has failed to even touch the double digit gross mark at the box office. This goes down as one of the epic failure opening weekend tallies for a supposed big budget film in recent times. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 80 crores, as claimed by the makers and if that really is the case, then it would mean Shakuntalam is one of the costliest failures in recent times.
Now, Samantha has shared her first reaction on Shakuntalam disaster on her official social media handle and here’s what she had to say about the same. Samantha wrote, “Karmanye vadhika raste Ma phaleshu kadachana Ma karma phala he tur bhuh Ma te sangotsva karmani (You can only do your karma, and can’t be the authority of it. One should not perform karma with the desire for reward).”
Samantha’s Vedhantham on a disastrous film like Shakuntalam is leaving netizens amused. The fact that Samantha has now shared a simple philosophical note on the disastrous result of Shakuntalam is turning heads. Some netizens are showing empathy to the actress to bounce back with a better script while some netizens are criticizing her Vedantham for an epic disaster.
On the work front, Samantha is currently busy with Shiva Nirvana’s Kushi and Indian version of science fiction action thriller Citadel. Stay tuned to Telugu70MM for more exciting updates.
