Noted Tamil comedian and filmmaker, Manobala passes away

In what could be said as bad news, noted comedian and filmmaker, Manobala passed away in Chennai earlier today. He was suffering from liver-related issues. He was 69.

Manobala started his career in Tamil cinema in the early 1970s and with Kamal Haasan’s reference became an assistant director with Bharathiraja for his 1979 film Puthiya Vaarpugal.

He died on Wednesday morning at his residence, reportedly due to liver issues. Prior to this, the veteran actor had also undergone an angio-treatment in January after experiencing chest pain.

The film industry in Chennai is sending its condolences to the actor and his family. His funeral will be held tomorrow in Chennai once the last rites are performed by his close family.
