Legendary actor Kamal Haasan in the Tamil film industry recently took a crucial decision. He was asked not to call him with any star tags anymore. He said through social media platform ‘X’ that he should be called simply Kamal or Kamal Haasan.
“Always grateful for the many titles like Ulaganayagan that appreciated my work. Such appreciations from the audience, fellow actors and relatives touched my heart. I was so moved. The movie is beyond anyone’s imagination. I am a perpetual student of it.I hope to learn many things in that field.. and grow more. Cinema, like any other art form, belongs to everyone. Kamal posted on social media that the film is a reflection of the collaboration of innumerable artists, technicians, audience and different great stories.
Also.. I believe that an artist is not greater than art. I want to be consistent forever.. I want to do my duty as an actor by recognizing my faults and improving. After much thought a decision was made. Star tags are politely declined.I am requesting all my fans, media, cinephiles, fellow Indians to call me just Kamal Haasan or Kamal or K.H. Thank you for the love you have showered me with titles like these over the years.I want to stick to my roots.. I want to be responsible as an actor. That’s why we have taken this decision,” he said in his post.
Kamal Haasan is known as Ulaganayagan in Tamil. The same means Vishwa Akhtar in Telugu. Also.. in English it is also called Universal Star. Overall.. the movie is a world of dreams. Fans consider their favorite actors as superheroes. That’s why.. they address their favorite protagonists with titles.Media also adopts the same approach. And..let’s see how Kamal’s decision will work that he doesn’t want to be awarded with any titles .
