YSR Congress party’s youngest MP P Mithun Reddy was arrested along with another party leader for assaulting an Air India official in November last year.A lookout notice was issued against Mithun after he had gone abroad. He was detained by the immigration officers at the Chennai airport as soon as he returned from Bangkok at around 1 am. The immigration officers later informed the Andhra Pradesh Police.
A team of AP Police travelled all the way to Chennai and brought Mithun to Chittoor district and placed him under arrest along with party leader. The duo was produced before the magistrate in Srikalathasti in Chittoor and was remanded in judicial custody.
Mithun Reddy was booked for allegedly slapping a station manager of Air India at Tirupati airport on November 26, 2015, following which a criminal case was registered against him and the airline had sought a report. Mithun, however, had refuted the charge, saying that there is some ulterior motive behind the entire episode.
Meanwhile, YSRCP activists and supporters were detained by Yerpedu police while they were heading towards Tirupati, adjoining to Srikalathasti, as a preventive measure.
