In the 2017, this time Indore of Madhya Pradesh has topped the list. Bhopal has secured the second spot and Vishakapatnam on the third spot. The results were announced by Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu. The announcement was followed by distribution of awards.
It is said that the survey was conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI) under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to could help to understand the rank of top 500 cities across India. According to reports, over 18 lakh citizens responded to a set of six questions and gave their views on sanitation.
In 2016 Swacch SurvekshanMysore was ranked top, followed by Chandigardh.
