Earlier this month, a passenger was allegedly dragged from United Airlines Flight no. 3411 scheduled to fly from O’Hare International Airport to Louisville, Kentucky, due to over-bookings issue. This incident went viral, had triggered international outrage and is now settled between the United Airline and passenger Dr. David Dao at an unrevealed amount.
A video showing how Dr. Dao was dragged by officials from Aircraft was very disheartening and created mayhem amongst other travelers. The Chief Executive Oscar Munoz took charge of the situation the issue and it really touched the public outcry and also prompted towards re-looking and re-creating new industry regulation to overcome such gaps. The Airline further stated to offer up to $10,000 for those who give up their seats and will soon end the overbooking of flights. Meanwhile, the three aviation officers and a supervisor involved in this incident are asked to remain on paid leave.
Dr. Dao is a 69-year old Vietnamese-American doctor, was injured badly while being dragged from his seat and it was only to accommodate four crew members. He filed a suit and later it was settled outside of court. United Airlines took full responsibility of the incident, without blaming others including the city of Chicago.” Mr. Munoz stated that they are pleased to resolve this matter cordially and they will work towards improvements and ensure to put our customers at the center of everything they do. He further emphasized that the airline would increase its focus on the customer satisfaction.
