Stay order by HC on court proceedings on complaint against Kamal Hassan

Madras High Court Madurai Bench stayed a lower court proceedings against actor Kamal Haasan, who had been ordered to appear before it on a private complaint for his alleged remarks against epic Mahabharatha and hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus during a television interview.

Kamal Haasan, who filed a petition a day before in the Madurai Bench sought exemption from a personal appearance and stated that he did not mean to hurt any person or his religious feelings. He also stated that he was only replying to a question asked by the interviewer regarding the oppression of women and the increasing sexual assaults on them, including the film actresses.
