Petrol and diesel may soon be home delivered as the oil ministry mulls options of door-to- door delivery on pre-booking to cut long queues at petrol pumps. According to the Petroleum Ministry’s tweet, government is trying to find the possibility for home delivery of petrol and diesel to consumers.
“Options being explored where petro products may be door delivered to consumers on pre-booking. This would help consumers avoid spending excessive time and long queues at fuel stations” tweeted the Petroleum Ministry.
It is estimated that around 3.5 crore people currently visit 59,595 petrol pumps in the country for buying auto fuel with India being world’s third largest consumer of oil. From 1 May, 2017, oil companies will introduce daily price revision of petrol and diesel in five cities in an effort to streamline fuel prices.
