Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province was targeted last week with GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), nicknamed the “mother of all bombs” to target a network of fortified underground tunnels used by ISIS to conduct attacks on government forces in the region. Three underground tunnels along with weapons and ammunition were destroyed in the blast and no civilians were hurt as claimed by Afghan and US officials. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had approved the strike as it was designed to support Afghan and US forces conducting clearance operations in the region.
