Macron favorite among voters for French presidential elections

French voters choose on Sunday whether Emmanuel Macron, a pro-EU centrist or a eurosceptic, anti-immigration far-rightist will lead them for the next five years, with early figures indicating turnout could be low, but above most recent forecasts.

After seeing off the National Front’s Marine Le Pen with a tumultuous election campaign full of scandal and surprises, opinion polls predicted that the 39-year-old former economy minister Emmanuel Macron would win the five-year presidency.

Macron victory would contrast with recent nativist, anti-globalisation voting outcomes such as those that will see Britain quit the EU and made Donald Trump U.S. president as the new French presidential candidate wants to deregulate the economy and deepen EU integration.
