TRAI ordered Reliance Jio Infocomm to withdraw it summer surprise plan. The offer was for three months of free services to users who paid initial fee by April 15.
This move by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has definitely been of a great relief to Jio’s rivals like Vodafone, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular.
In a statement the company said, “Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator’s advice, and will be withdrawing the three months complimentary benefits of Jio Summer Surprise as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days.”
According to a report, the Cellular Operators’ Association of India had said Jio’s summer offer will continue to ‘bleed the industry’ which may affect banks and others who have an exposure to the telecom sector.
