The ostentatious West Indies batsmen Chris Gayle achieved the milestone of becoming the first player in world T20 cricket history to score more than 10,000 runs. He crossed the 10,000 mark during his match on Tuesday, 18th April 2017 while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in their Indian Premier League match against the Gujarat Lions at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
He started the match with having a score of 9997 which was just 3 runs away from achieving the landmark. With this achievement, Gayle becomes the first ever player in the world cricket history to score more than 10,000 runs in three levels — first-class, list-A and T20s. It is true that the Windes batsmen may end up being the only player in the 10,000 club in T20s for a long time considering the fact that few other batsmen are yet to even cross the 8,000 runs mark in T20.
