Recently there are was a buzz that Government plans to print Rs 200 note and along with that, the rumor was abuzz that Rs 2000 notes would soon be demonetized.
The Government said that there are no plans to demonetize the new Rs 2000 currency notes. Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home said in Rajya Sabha that they are seizing fake currency. One should not pay heed to the rumors in the market.
After demonetization, fake currency circulating in the market was made of low-quality paper. That was not all, later fake currency were seen with quality paper too. Talking about the same Rijiju said, “I can assure the House and the country that now no one can copy 100%, as we have indigenous design and extra features.”
The Minister also said that fake currency has mostly been seized from Gujarat and West Bengal.
