The Assam Government recently declared in a unique initiative that people marrying before the legal age of marriage and the couples that have more than two children will not be eligible for the state government jobs.
In a media report, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that “Anyone having more than 2 children, marrying before attaining legal age won’t be eligible for Assam govt. jobs under new population policy.”
The policy is a part of ruling BJP’s vision for the state in an attempt to control the population of Bengali-speaking Muslim immigrants in the state. The aim to implement this policy is for the development of people below poverty line, decrease in child death, maternal death etc
