Aadhaar can’t be mandatory for government’s welfare schemes Supreme Court telugu70mm.com

In a surprising move, Supreme court on Monday ruled that government cannot make Aadhaar mandatory for extending benefits of its welfare schemes.

The court also said that the government, however, cannot be stopped from using Aadhaar in other schemes like an opening of bank accounts and filing of income tax.

The apex court also said that a seven-judge bench has to be set up to hear the pleas challenging the Aadhaar but ‘right now it is not possible.’
